Who Should Attend Drupal in a Day?

Drupal-in-a-day is, as the name suggests, a one day course aimed at absolute beginners; plain English throughout, bog basic start, no previous experience necessary.

Student notes, key websites, installs files are all provided so you can try it all again after the show. *Best of all, you walk away with a full Drupal website installation on a USB stick allowing you to whip out your stick and do some Drupal content management anytime, anywhere, and best of all, without an Internet connection. Nice.

How to build a Drupal website.

Session One - Aperitif

A summary of the day's agenda; a short presentation with an illustrated guide, try it yourself activities and plenty of hand waiving - it'll all make sense on the day!

Session Two - Starter

• What exactly is Drupal? How and why did it come about?
• Things you can do with it, big players using it – example sites.
• What’s this ‘modules’ thing all about?
• What’s on your stick?
• Where’s does my content live?
• Best practice

Session Three - Main Course

An activity based session with a basic installation - lots of hands-on and insightful demonstrations:

• Content (pages, discussion topics, blog entries, news articles)
• Taxonomy basics, URLs and paths to content (SEO basics)
• Positioning - moving content around pages (regions and blocks)
• Themes – using a design scheme to enhnace the look of a site

Session Four - Dessert

• Modules – adding some key ‘must haves’ - improving navigation and layout
• Custom content types
• Creating listings
• Adding some fancy stuff
• Advanced configuration: roles and permissions, search configuration

Session Five - Coffee & Mints

• Using your experience, you'll build a real, workable site, which you can take away and work on.
• Q&A and Next Steps
